As we enjoy this season of thanks, let’s take some time to give thanks to God during each of the days leading up to the holiday and, of course, on that day. Welcome to Day 7:
“We always thank God for all of you, remembering you constantly in our prayers.” 1 Thessalonians 1:2
In his sweet, encouraging letter to the church in Thessalonica (which later became the book of 1st Thessalonians) the Apostle Paul has found much about the young Christians there for which to thank God.
The Christians Thessalonians were faithful, worked for the Lord, their hope endured in spite of much persecution and they welcomed the message of the Gospel.
You know, it may be that when you are faithfully serving the Lord, someone is thanking Him for you! When you show that you have hope eternal, it may prompt someone to express gratitude for showing them hope. And, I guarantee if someone shared God’s message with you and you accepted it, there were many prayers of thanks expressed.
What an amazing thought, isn’t it?
When we are faithful, the most important thing is that we are doing that for our Lord, but it is a very encouraging thought to know that others may be truly thankful for what we are doing.
As a ministry leader, I can say I often thank God for those with whom I serve, and especially on Sundays and Wednesdays. I do express my thanks directly to the people (though not as often as they deserve), but usually, I simply express it to the Lord and ask Him to bless them for their service.
Who might be thanking God for you today? Be encouraged that someone may very well be doing that.
Who comes to mind when you think of someone who is faithfully serving the Lord? Maybe you could take time to thank God for them?
What a blessing that we can take time to thank to thank God for one another!
Dear God, I thank You for those who are faithfully serving You, for those who know and show the hope they have in You and for those who believe and share Your message. May I be someone for whom others give thanks. Amen.
