It is easy to get into the habit of complaining, but is impossible to complain and give thanks at the same time. Use this game to help remind kids to flip those complaints into thanks! You can use it at Thanksgiving time, or any time you’re teaching on the subject of giving thanks.
Materials: Circles cut out of cardstock or cardboard. On one side will be written “complaint” and on the other “thanks.” 4 Spatulas
Ask/Say: What is the opposite of thanksgiving? Complaining. But, what if we flip our complaints into thanks. We’re going to play a little game to remind us to do that.
Directions: Divide the class into 2 teams. Each team will take turns sending one player down to the opposite side of the room to use the spatula to flip the “pancake” from a complaint to a thanks, then run back and hand the spatula off to the next person.
