Let God Carry Your Burdens

“Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you.” Psalm 55:22

“Come to me, all you who are troubled and weighted down with care, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (BBE)

The day of my daughter’s last t-ball game was hot. I watched her walk across the field from me to where her dad, the coach, was setting up the field. In her hand was a jug of water that was nearly half her size. As she got closer to my husband, I saw him look up and start to walk toward her. He met her half way, smiled down on her and almost in one motion, took the water jug from her and took her little hand in his. Together they walked the rest of the way. Her daddy having taken her burden into his strong arms.

What a beautiful picture it made for me. How often I struggle with my burdens. I carry them, struggling, wondering how I will make it the rest of the way, when all along, my loving Father is looking upon me, smiling, ready to carry my load and take me by the hand to lighten my step.

What are we carrying today? Are we struggling beneath the load of it? Let’s give it to Him. Let Him lift the burden off of ourselves and into His strong arms. He wants us–invites us–to do so. What an amazing and capable Father we have, that He would do such a thing for us. May we ever remember that we have this enormous priviledge as His children.

Mighty Capable Father, So often I carry my own loads, whether they are heavy or light, I think I can handle them on my own, but soon the weight of my burden makes me weary, because I am not meant to carry anything on my own. I desperately need You to help me in everything in my life, but especially with lightening the load that seems oh-so heavy many days. Help me to give it to You willingly before it weighs me down. Thank You for this wonderful invitation to cast my cares upon You. You are so loving and good to walk with me and help me with Your loving, strong hand and mighty power. Amen
